SCRIPTURE READINGS: Isaiah 49:14-26; 1Peter 5:7
If responsible parents have good plans for their children and make provisions for their present and future holistic needs, how about our God, who created us in His own image and likeness? He will surely care for our present and future needs. Jesus declares in the gospel according to Luke: “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?” (Luke 11:9-13 – NIV).
Zion complained that the Lord had forsaken and forgotten her, yet the Lord assured her that He cares. Even in her apostate state, the Lord still cared. It is not likely that a nursing woman will forget her child and not have compassion on him/her. Even if she does, God says that He will not forsake Zion. God assured her of His compassion and safety.
Let us also note that this unchanging God still cares for us. He will never forget and forsake us. He will protect and preserve us as we go about our sacred and secular assignments. Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people, even now and forevermore (Psalm 125:2).  Peter, the Apostle, admonishes us to cast all our anxieties, cares and troubles to God, because He cares for us.
May you continually enjoy the presence, goodness, favour and blessings of God as you carry on with your God-given assignment this year.
Dear Jesus, you have assured me that you will always be with me till the end of the age. Thank you for protecting and preserving my life and that of my loved ones, Amen.
Isaiah 49:15 (GOD’S WORD TRANSLATION) – I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD. They are plans for peace and not disaster plans to give you a future filled with hope
