“KNOWING GOD THROUGH HIS WORD”

SCRIPTURE READINGS: John 1:1-3, 2 Timothy 3:15-17
EXPOSITION:
The role of the Bible in establishing a vibrant personal relationship with God cannot be over emphasized. The Bible is the word of God but not everything written in the Bible was directly said by God. Recorded within the pages of the Bible is the voice of God, of man and of the devil so that we know their nature and operations. Many people prefer seeking God through dreams, visions, miracles and other spectacular ways that they have no control over. Seeking God primarily through the above ways can be very elusive, evasive, frustrating and deceptive. After all, the most important thing in any supernatural encounter is what God says.
The primary and sure way of knowing God is through His word (Bible). God is His word and the word of God is God. The word of God is available to all at any time. The more we meditate on and practice the Word; we increase in our knowledge of God and avoid a lot of errors that emanate from human experience and many so-called personal encounters. Dreams and visions have to line up with God’s provision in His word otherwise, they have to be discarded.
Start taking time to study and meditate on God’s word. As you fellowship with the Word of God, you will be developing intimacy with God Himself. You will grow in Grace, faith and the knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
PRAYER:
Lord, open my eyes to see Jesus through the pages of the Bible. Lord, cause me to desire Your Word above my daily food.

MEMORY VERSE FOR THE WEEK:
Jeremiah 9:24 (NIV) –”but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD.
