But seek His kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. – Luke 12:31 (NIV)
The born again child of God is already saved from the corruption in the world. However, the world is constantly seeking to defile the child of God. One of such ways is through ANXIETY and the cares of the world.
As human beings, we have certain basic needs and concerns in this world; what to eat, what to wear, where to live, who to marry, how to make progress, passing  examinations, getting good jobs, having children and many more. Having desires and working to have these needs met is normal and legitimate. God is not against it. However, this can easily degenerate into what is known as “the cares and the anxieties of the world.”
Someone who is not yet born again will worry and fret over these issues. He thinks he can have his needs met by his own efforts. He does not believe in the Lord for the supply of his needs. He forgets that God is the giver and his needs are God’s gift. Many are so possessed with the cares of this life that they have no thought of eternity. Some who succeed in getting what they want do not find satisfaction and fulfillment because they do not acknowledge God, the Giver of all good things.
Victory over the world is staying free from anxiety over whatever needs and hopes may be in life. We should trust the Lord completely and believe that in His goodness and providential care, He will meet all our needs.
• Am I anxious about certain wants of life?
• Do I often compare myself with others?
Lord Jesus, give me the grace to believe in Your Word for You feed the birds of the air. Amen.
